AWS opens Development Centre at KOFISI Square, Nairobi

KOFISI Africa was delighted to welcome a number of dignitaries including His Excellency, Dr William Samoei Ruto, President of Kenya, the US Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman and Sakaja Johnson, the Governor of Nairobi County to officially open the offices of Amazon Web Services at KOFISI Square in Nairobi, Kenya.
“KOFISI is very proud to have designed and delivered a bespoke workplace for AWS within the eco-system of KOFISI Square, and for being part of another journey that encourages innovation and investment into the Continent.” said KOFISI’s Head of Innovation and Hospitality, Sam Imende.
The arrival of AWS cements Kenya’s position as one of Africa’s biggest technology hubs, and the AWS Development Centre will create considerable opportunity for highly skilled jobs in telecommunications, software development and engineering, stimulating investment into higher education as well as encouraging other tech giants to follow.
As the world’s largest cloud computing provider, AWS is used by companies such as Netflix, General Electric and Sony, enabling storage, networking and remote security.
During his speech in the Assembly Space at KOFISI Square, Kenya’s President said, “The Kenyan technology sector continues to be a source of growth and job creation at a time when there is so much uncertainty in the world.”
Amazon joins Google, BOLT and GIZ as clients of at KOFISI Africa, choosing the workspace provider for their expertise in delivering bespoke and hospitality led workplaces located in Nairobi, Lagos and Dar es Salaam.
