Job Purpose

Working directly with the Design & Build team both locally & internationally, alongside the Head of Design, to bring the Kofisi vision and spaces to life. From sourcing, presentations & technical drawings, as an Interior Designer your role would be ‘a little bit of everything’.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities

The Interior Designer has a responsibility to work as a team to undertake design from concept to completion. They are expected to undertake the below tasks but not limited to, while working closely with the rest of the Design & Build Team to guard the brand look & feel in the centre builds.

  • Understand project requirements & brief
  • Research and select project materials and products in a decisive and timely manner
  • Assistance in space planning & test fit proposals for clients
  • Ability to understand and formulate design concepts and present for discussion
  • Create sample mood boards
  • Assist with full drawing packs for construction
  • Technical drawings including joinery
  • MEP co-ordination
  • Create accurate schedules for purchasing
  • Check & assist with junior design work during the Head of Design’s absence
  • Work with 3D artists to produce realistic renders
  • Sourcing and research of new suppliers to be used
  • Bring new ideas into the brand, by looking at the international and industry standards
  • Meet with Kenyan suppliers
  • Set and achieve deliverable deadlines and give regular updates on progress
  • Planning of botany & styling

Basic Requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Experience                                                                                                                  

  • Qualification & skills
  • Relevant Interior Design Qualification
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Ability to read & interpret architectural, engineering and mechanical drawings
  • Understanding of interior design documentation
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and creative solution skills
  • Works well under pressure and can multi-task
  • Concept design & presentation
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision but is also a team player
  • Strong time management

  • Physically capable of lifting and moving objects as necessary

Experience

  • Min 5 years of experience in the Interior Design industry (preferably hospitality)
  • Look & feel presentations, space planning, tender drawings, construction drawings, joinery drawings, client liaison, MEP co-ordination, RFI’s and schedules
